1. The Sabah Society's annual Dinner, held at the Grand Ballroom, Pacific Sutera on 16 February 2004, was attended by 280 members and their guest. The Guest-of- honour, Tan Sri Musa Hitam, gave an informative and amusing special keynote address entitled 'The Moderization of Sabah in a Modernizing Malaysia'. There was also a musical performance by a trio of Sabah society members: soprano Ms Phoon Sook-Peng, violinist Mr Yap Ling and pianist Ms Grace Lee. It was an evening of total fulfillment for the mind, soul and body.

2. 3. Members of the Sabah Society who took part in the Society's first ever trek along the Salt Trail from Tambunan to Penampang. Although it was a grueling trek along the slippery tracks and the numerous river crossings, they all had a thoroughly enjoyable time.

11. On a day trip, a large group of Sabah Society members got a view of Gaya Island in a boat rip around the island, a trek through the mangrove forest (and, and for some, a trk to the peak) as well as snorkeling off its coast.

Apart from being an administrative office, it is our aim and intention that the new office shall be a place for the members to meet and socialize or just browse in the library. The new Secretariat will move to its new premises about August/September 2004.

23. The first Sabah Society trip to the Imbak Canyon failed to reach its intended destination because of rain, but all still had a good time, 17-21 July 2004.

28. Sabah Society members and families who joined the cycling tour from Kudat to Sabah’s newest tourist attraction, Tanjung Simpang Mengayau, the most northerly tip of Borneo, and (some cyclists) back to the starting point, 5 September 2004.

The brave Sabah Society members who braved the cold and pouring rain to ascend the very much less-known eastern plateau of Mount Kinabalu along a route only opened to non-professional climbers after the installation of aluminum ladders by the 1989 Raleigh International project, 6-8 September 2004.

30. The sign to the Tabin Wildlife Reserve partially blocked by Sabah Society members who enjoyed a long weekend at the resort. The highlight of the trip had to be the group of elephants seen at close range as they ‘bumped’ their way out to Lahad Datu on the return journey, 16-18 September 2004.

39. A historic talk on the earliest scientific expeditions to the eastern side of Mount Kinabalu, the Royal Society expeditions of 1961 and 1964, was given by thee members of the 1964 expedition, the Earl of Cranbrook, Prof Duncan Poore and Prof Ho Coy Choke.

42. A laarge contingent from the Sabah society had the honour of being guided arounded the Sabah Agricultural Park at Tenom by its creator, tony Lamb. They were fortunate to be able to see the first Rafflesia bloom produced in the park.
